The programme started with lighting of Lamp by the VIPs on the dias and then Sarswati Vandana. Sh Vijay Maroo gave a brief description of the two day Seminar with Empowerment and Basic Education Sessions on the first day, 08th Dec 2007. Health and Gram Vikas Session will be on the second day the 09th Dec 2007. He highlighted the need of this type of First Seminar by Ekal to let the people know what Ekal has done. And the goal of One Lakh Schools is still far. The Key points narrated by Speakers are as follows:
1. Dr. P.L. Chaturvedi:

  • He gave an excellent Welcome address and highlighted that the division between Bharat and India has to be bridged
  • His chaste Hindi created a spell bounding effect on the delegates. He quoted from Vedas and highlighted that lack of nationalist feelings led to the downfall of this country.
  • The invaders divided us into Aryans and Non Aryans, Adivasi and the others. He gave ample proof that our Vanvasi used to be fully self reliant and were an integral part of the society. And the need of the hour is to remove all such sorts of gaps between the 60%+ people living in villages and tribal areas and those living in Urban settlements.
  • He highlighted how Ekal movement has been silently working for the last so many years in this direction.
2.
General J.J. Singh:
  • He appreciated efforts of Ekal movement in spreading the benefits of growth to the remotest areas.
  • We should look forward to enrolling ex servicemen of the defence to work towards development of rural India. This seems feasible as ex-servicemen belong to the remotest and even in accessible villages.
  • Flow of education, communication and job opportunities in rural india can result in their ultimate development.
3.
Dr. Basant Tariyal
  • He exhorted the delegates to come and see what Ekal is doing and then give their suggestions to help us to move ahead.
  • He said our India educated us and now it is time to give back.
  • We must strive to be developed and more powerful to have a decent civilisation and philosophy.
  • We need to bring the tribals in the mainstream to be a powerful country.
  • Human resource is the most important for the success of any nation but uneducated resource is a wasted resource.
  • Basic education to all is most important for the development of any nation.
4.
Sh. Ashok Singhal
  • He had great praise for ideas and suggestions expressed by the former Chief of Army Staff.
  • He highlighted the need to tackle problems of Hunger, Clothing and the divisive forces on the caste lines within the society.
  • He also applauded Gen JJ Singh for his suggestion to explore the use of the highly disciplined 60,000 soldiers retiring every year.
A Souveneir on "Ekal initiative" was released by Gen. J.J. Singh.
The Inaugural Session ended with presentation of Momentoes to the dignitaries on the dias and Vote of thanks by Sh. Ajay Singh, Secretary General, EVFI.
