We need to make sure that
rural people have an access
to information.
Need to instil leadership
and give them the right
to use the vast resources
present before them.
A network to be formed
right from the village
to the central level.
2.
Sh.
Achutyanand Mishra
He highlighted
the role media can play
in serving the Rural Bharat.
The role of
media towards tribals
and rurals since independence
has not been justifiable.
Coverage of
rurals and tribals by
media is only 2%.
We need to
build a parallel and alternative
media in order to develop
the underpriviliged people
of Bharat..
Media can prove
to be a faster approach
towards the development
of the rural and tribal.
3.
Sh.
Wajahat Habibullah
He described
in detail the 'Right to
Information Act"
and deplored that those
who need it most are not
aware of this.
The rural India
should be made aware of
its rights and power.
Villagers are
not aware about the programmes
that are being carried
out for thier interest
and benefit.
Laws are made
but there is no information
about how to use them.
Hence, rural and tribal
India cannot use it for
their benefit.
Village Panchayats
and other organisations
are not being run in an
orderly manner. In democracy
the accountability of
public money has to be
accounted for by the public
servants and the citizen
has the right now to ask
for it and the government
agency has to reply.
Every organisation
that uses public money
has been put under the
scanner of public eye
through this act.
4.
Sh.
Shailesh Gandhi
He explained
how the RTI Act has been
changing the lives of
common Indian citizens
through a good number
of actual incidents that
took place in Mumbai.
He highlighted
how ordinary citizens
have used RTI, refused
to give bribe and got
their jobs done.
He told delegates
that you don't go to any
office to get any info.
Sit at home and just send
a simple letter asking
for the info. And they
will have to send.
He exhorted
everyone to stop cribbingacusing
and start acting and you
shall be doing greatest
service to the Republic
of India.
5.
Sh. Prabhat Kumar
Laws and Acts have been
made but the effect and
benefit of these formulations
have not been able to
reach the areas in need
of them.
All the schemes and Acts
were started with the
aim of development of
Bharat, but the pace at
which this development
is taking place is not
acceptable.
Development of rural and
tribal areas is not possible
till the time their empowerment
is not done. And there
empowerment is possible
only when we ignite an
urge in their minds to
be educated and developed.
He deplored that 94% of
school children drop out
by the time they cross
10+2 level. He appreciated
the steps taken by Ekal
in this direction.
He concluded the session
that those who need RTI
most are not able to use
it and, therefore, the
need to educate rural
and tribal people about
this. He emphasised that
let Govt do their job
but let us also move ahead
irrespective of what the
government is doing.
The
Session ended with Question Answer
which was very interesting. Sh Habibullah
had maximum questions and said that
all info is available on www.cic.gov.in
The session ended with presentation
of Momentoes to the speakers on
the dias.
